Mariama Cham, BS-Psychology, MSW-C

Hello, my name is Mariama Cham. I graduated from George Mason University with my bachelor’s in psychology. With my 10 years of experience in the human services field, I have had the opportunity of working with adults, military personnel, veterans, and the aging population. Additionally, I have had the opportunity of working with adults, adolescents with substance use challenges and mental health illnesses such as schizophrenia, ADHD, co-occurring disorders, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Furthermore, I have worked with clients who are experiencing suicidal ideations, trauma and/or mental health crisis.

My specialized interests include working with teens and adults who have a history of trauma, anxiety, depression and mood disorders. I am a firm believer that every individual deserves compassion, empathy, and respect. I strive to provide that for you while also guiding you in providing those things for yourself.  As an MSW intern, I hope to apply my experience and build on my skills to walk alongside clients in their renewed journeys. I strive to provide a space in which clients know they are seen and heard. I believe my experience in working with a diverse group of adults and families during vulnerable times will help me flourish as I move into the field of social work.

I am incredibly excited to be part of Renewed Journey’s Therapy team and know I will grow from working under the supervision of an established clinician, as well as from the clients that I will be privileged to share space and time with. As your therapist, my goal is to use faith-based therapy coupled with evidenced based practices to build and create a safe place for my clients to come forward to be comfortable enough to talk about their feelings, life stressors, goals, and other challenges. I look forward to assisting you through your individual journeys.
